EU AI Act Article 3(1) definition: a machine-based system that infers from inputs how to generate outputs such as predictions, content, recommendations or decisions, with some degree of autonomy. Whether a product meets this definition determines whether the Act applies at all. The Digital Omnibus proposes narrowing the definition (not yet finalised).
